The Freedom Village Story

Freedom Village Cooperative, a 108-site manufactured-home community, opened in the early 1960s as Green Meadows Mobile Home Park.

Our residents began moving toward controlling our own destiny in 2015. That’s when, with the help of New Hampshire Community Loan Fund and ROC USA, LLC, we formed the Freedom Village Cooperative that would, on Dec. 30, 2015, purchase and take control of our community.

Now our resident-owned community (ROC) is both a successful business and a thriving neighborhood. The process of cooperatively buying the land beneath our homes brought this community closer together. Not only do we know far more of our neighbors than ever before, we look out for one another, too.

And with no outside landlord setting our rules and rents, we’re the envy of other nearby manufactured-home parks.

Our member households elect our Board of Directors, which works with a property management firm and appoints volunteer committees to help with special projects, celebrations, community improvements, and more. The board submits a budget to the membership every year, and it, along with any proposed changes to the rent, rules, or bylaws are put to a vote of members before becoming official. We run the business that is our community on our terms, by our rules, for the betterment of ourselves and our neighbors.

Located off Fisherville Road between downtown Concord and Penacook, Freedom Village couldn’t be better situated. We’re close to downtown Concord, as well as our proximity to Routes 93, 89, 4, 202, and 3A, making commutes to Manchester and surrounding towns a breeze. We are on the Concord bus route, and only a 10-minute drive to its thriving Main Street. We are just down the road from museums, historical theaters, outlet shopping malls, and even professional sporting events! Freedom Village is also only an hour away from the White Mountains which are perfect for sightseeing, skiing, and hiking.

We work hard to improve our community and celebrate with social gatherings as often as we can. Our social committee holds events throughout the year that always involve great food, entertainment, and even prizes at bingo night.

Ask anyone who lives in Freedom Village, and we’re sure they’ll tell you it’s a remarkable place to live.
